What’s Inside

INSIDE THE BOOK

Ten Chapters. One Honest Journey.

God Made Me A Preacher is organized around the actual experience of being called, shaped, and sent. Each chapter reflects a distinct stage of that process, told in the order it happened.

The Question —
Where It All Starts

The book opens not with answers but with honesty. Pastor McDuffie takes you back to a point in his life when things felt hollow despite looking fine from the outside. He introduces the question that sits at the center of the entire book: what is God asking of me, and what do I do about it?

The Journey — Following Without Knowing the Destination

This section traces the slow shift from a life built around routine and external achievement to the first signs that God was doing something different. It is uncertain, gradual, and told without the benefit of hindsight. It reflects what most people actually experience when God begins to redirect their attention.

The Call — When It Becomes Undeniable

This is the moment the calling becomes too clear to dismiss. Pastor McDuffie walks through the confirmations that came through people, through scripture, and through the work of the Holy Spirit. He also addresses the question most people are afraid to ask directly: how do you actually know it is God?

The Answer — What Saying
Yes Actually Means

Saying yes is not a single moment. It is a series of decisions. This section explores what it means to respond to God’s call in real life, including the fear that comes with it, the commitments it requires, and the ways it begins to change everything around you before you are ready.

The Transformation — Becoming Who the Work Requires

Obedience produces change. This section covers the internal work that comes with stepping forward, what had to shift in Pastor McDuffie’s thinking, his habits, and his identity. The shaping process is not always comfortable. He does not pretend otherwise.

The Fire — What Ministry Actually Costs

The ministry is not passive. This section deals honestly with spiritual opposition, personal sacrifice, and the kind of perseverance that only comes from being genuinely convinced that God is the one who sent you. It is not written to discourage. It is written to prepare.

The Work — Showing Up for the Assignment

Being called and being prepared eventually leads to being deployed. This section looks at what the actual work of ministry involves, what responsibility it carries, and what it means to show up faithfully for the people God places in your path, even on the days when you do not feel adequate for it.

The Sacrifice — What Everyone Around You Gives Up

The ministry does not only touch the minister. This section is candid about what it costs the family, the relationships, and the life you had planned before the calling arrived. Pastor McDuffie reflects on the price of obedience and the people who paid it alongside him.

The Reward — What Faithfulness Produces

The book closes not with success as the world defines it, but with something more lasting. This section captures what it looks and feels like to be exactly where God intended, even when the road to get there was longer and harder than expected.

Prayer for the Reader

The book ends with a prayer written directly for the person holding it. Not a closing formality. A genuine intercession for anyone who has read this far and knows, somewhere inside, that God is already speaking to them.
